I missed bulb-planting season in the fall. But now we're having this warm spell - is it worth trying to plant them now? What are the odds that I'll get any spring flowers?
You **may** have to wait till next year for flowers, and they **may** not survive at all, but chances are better if you plant them than if you don't. : ) Most bulbs are very tough characters, and they **may** do just fine, if they're still sound (no soft spots, still looking good).
I would plant them, because they might not last until the next good planting season (in the fall). I planted bulbs in a warm spell one January, and most of them did come up and flower that year. Go for it.
Zoinks - same here re: daffodils. Think they will survive if we get a cold snowy winter? Maybe I should just dump a lot of dirt on them so they'll go back to hibernation?
I'm planting bulbs tonight. I had construction that took a bit longer than expected, so the bulbs didn't go in late-Nov as planned and the ground was a bit too hard in December.
My existing in-ground bulbs are sticking up several inches. They are very confused.
